Default W/Mo seeking advice

So I've decided to get back into the game after about a 4 year absence, and just looking for some pointers/advice. I've only ever experienced the Prophecies campaign, got 15k plate armor from granite citadel, and I mainly use sword/shield. I've got all the expansions now and am currently working through the nightfall campaign to get access to the 15k primal *drooool*. I usually stick with henchies and I've more or less figured out the Hero thing, but I still can't seem to get a feel that I'm going through the missions at full potential.

As I said I use sword/shield combo but even with using Hundred blades it feels like I could be more effective and do more damage with more aoe, unfortunatly after some research I see that my only other option would be to take the skill whirlwind attack...which i'd love to do but none of the trainers have it on their list >< so I'm in a sort of a bind here. Should I swap to axe/shield in order to get access to some aoe or stick it out with sword? This might seem odd to ask but being away from the game for so long, I've become completely clueless as to what works now and what doesn't -_-. Thank you in advance for your advice or comments.

You'll find it at the Hero Skill Trainers in Nightfall (one is in Kamadan), under the Sunspear Skills group. You'll spend one Hero Skill Point to get it and it's effectiveness will increase as you progress in your Sunspear title.

Not really. Hundred Blades works pretty well in this respect.

You could pick a Necromancer hero (the Master of Whispers or Olias) and give him skills such as Mark of Pain or Barbs to trigger on your melee attacks.

Mind to show us your builds, so we can give advices?

This here, MoP [mark of pain] is a big AoE damage deal when it is targeted on the right foe.

Also since we are talking about AoE damage, if you dont mind switching to hammer or getting a hammer helmet then an Earth Shaker build is a really fun build to run in my opinion.

And yes if you dont mind posting your build and attributes we may be able t help you a little more if you want to keep Hundred Blades in your build.

I'll def. check out MoP for sure. Thanks for the tip on that. Also here's my build now that I can check it. Stat point-wise I have: 14 Strength 13 sword mastery 3 tactics and 8 healing prayer (this is with mods included) and I run my hotbar like:
1) Flurry
2) For Great Justice/100 Blades (I was trying out FGJ just for kicks)
3) Heal Area
4) Resurrection Chant
5) Sever Artery
6) Gash
7) Power strike
8) Final Thrust

I know it seems odd to have it set up that way, but I have 5-8 keyed to buttons on my mouse. I'd replace Power attack with Whirlwind Strike now that I know where to check for it (thank you Gill) and slap 100 blades back where FGJ is currently.

Is there a particular reason you're running Heal Area instead of Lion's Comfort(Str - found in kama) or Healing sig?

Unless one of your heroes is a minion master, I don't see the utility of a skill that costs 10 energy and will not only heal you but surrounding enemies as well.

That aside, I'd recommend not bringing a self heal at all in PvE, healing is better left for the support classes while you concentrate on damage.

Also, considering looking into the Enraging Charge and Flail pair of stances. Flail for an increased attack speed at the cost of movement speed, and charge as extra adrenaline gain and to cancel flail.

Yea like Gennadios said, a monk self heal on a warrior in PvE isnt very good, take Lion's Comfort like he said. Take out Flurry for Flail [a NF skill], its at Gate of Torment or if you dont want to wait that long you ca cap it from a boss [http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Flail. I think i'd take out Final Thrust for something else because it takes too much adrenaline. Maybe something like Counterattack or Watch Yourself.

My comments in bold.

3 tactics Fine for spare points, but Tactics isn't really good for much.
8 healing prayer NEVER EVER PUT POINTS INTO MONK ATTRIBUTES. Only possible exception would be 10 Smiting for SoH if you didn't have other people or heroes. You aren't a Monk, don't run healing.

Quote:
1) Flurry IAS is good, but Flurry is a bad one. Flail is better. To get it early, unlock it with Balthazar faction and buy it from Kamadan or learn it from a tome.
2) For Great Justice/100 Blades (I was trying out FGJ just for kicks) 100B + MoP/Barbs = awesomeness. Do it. You'll need to learn to aggro properly to get the most out of it though. No ball = no damage.
3) Heal Area No. Never. Not only does it require Healing Prayers, but it heals your enemies too. That's counter-productive. Get rid of it asap. Lion's Comfort is good.
4) Resurrection Chant Meh. I find there generally isn't enough space on a War bar to fit a rez. Fine if you use it, but if the rezzes from the henchies/heroes is enough this is just wasting space.
5) Sever Artery Necessary for Gash.
6) Gash Deep Wound is good, but consider that it essentially costs you 2 slots. SA is useless by itself.
7) Power strike Power Attack? Ok, but you probably won't have the energy to spam it on recharge. Whirlwind Attack should probably go here when you get it.
8) Final Thrust FT isn't all that appealing tbh. It's a big chunk of damage, but you're fighting a bunch of monsters, not one. You'll want to be able to pump out damage consistently, not blowing all your adr in one and starting over each time.

Mkay I'll make the swap on my stats to bring my sword to 14, and get rid of that stuff in heals...not sure why I had it there in the first place. I already removed the heal area and rez spells from my bar as well, and capped Flail from the rock boss. I managed to get Whirlwind too, and I'm loving that combo with HB. By tomorrow I'll have finished the quest line to get Master of Whispers into my party so I can get MoP too. Still trying to figure out what else to slap on my bar and get the hang of getting aggro again...been a long long time since I last played >< Thanks for all the help so far!

Once you get Masters of Whispers I would advise you to micro him to use MoP on a target that close enough to the middle of the group so that you will be hitting the majority of the group with MoP, run in with HB and use whirlwind
